Moving around in big cities is getting more worse today because of several reasons. Too many people have cars and the roads are clouded with them. Also in some big cities parking is getting more and more expensive. There are several alternative ways of moving around in these cities like tram, metro and by cycling.

Yesterday during a cool session at Sparked i have been trying out a Segway. A really cool device for moving around. The segway has only two wheels and uses 4 gyroscopes to maintain its orientation. By moving the control stick and your body you can move left, right, forward and backward to speeds up to 20 Km/h. The first time feels strange because for example you need to lean backwards to decrease speed. But your body has the feeling its falling backwards while the gyroscopes correct it without any problem.

This device is a good example of how to do things differently. Like moving around in a large office environment or quickly moving around in big cities. It also does not use any gas but works fully on batteries. You will be capable of moving around for some 40 Km. Since july 2008 its legal to use in the Netherlands and its treated like a bicycle. There are several options available and several models like i2 Cargo, x2 Gofl, x2 Adventure (Yesss.... an off-road model), x2 Turf and so on.
