I'm very proud to announce that our office in the Netherlands is taking its steps into another way of work. We are located since a few weeks at a new office in Rotterdam. This building is completely new and is based on some cool things around "The new world of work". Each floor contains flex places to work at. This means that nobody has its own place. The only relation is that a floor is connected to a specific divsion, so people can still find each other. At the other hand you can logon to the deskphone which will make you reachable for everybody.
Each floor has its own color scheme. This is the eight floor and we have orange. There are several rooms in which people can have meetings. The rooms do not have whiteboards anymore because the walls are whiteboards!! Cool! In some of the rooms there are flatscreens which can be connected to your laptopto have some presentation going on.
Here one of my colleages is working at the flex desk.
The furniture is choosen to create some kind of a comfort zone. Like your are at home. Large round areas in which you can sit together with other colleages to discuss projects and work. Also wireless is finally implemented in the whole building which makes it incredibly easy to do your work anywhere you want.
This area is a round chamber in which people can make there phone calls without disturbing anyone.
One of the really cool areas i find is the meeting rooms at the ground floor. Not one room is the same and each of them creates another feeling while you are at work. This room contains soft blocks which can be moved to make it a more friendly and relaxing environment to have meetings. This room contains a smartboard (whiteboard which you connect to your laptop).
Another room has a high table on which people can sit on or stand (like these two guys).
This is the most relaxing room....can you imagine....brainstorming together or in your own, sitting in a big couch.....normally you did this only at home.
Finally the area (per floor one) where you can get drinks, sit and relax, or have some discussion on the phone while you are not disturbed by others.
