As mentioned on some blogs the Visual Studio 2005 Extensions User Guide is available for download.
One of the biggest issues we always have is generating the basic building blocks for our projects. Currently i'm looking into the possibility to create some kind of Software Factory for the base of our SharePoint projects. This is because a lot of the projects are always setup in the same way. Maybe this can be used for that too but i'm afraid it is not complete yet.
The following give a short description what to expect:
"This is the User Guide and Samples for the Tools for developing custom SharePoint applications with the Visual Studio 2005 extensions for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, version 1.1 (VSeWSS 1.1). The User Guide is not all complete at this time and the completed User Guide is planned for release by the end of April 2008. The current version here includes documentation for the List Definition project template only. It also includes a sample List Definition project in both C# and VB.NET. This template is one of seven that will be covered in the completed guide.
The User Guide included is an HTML file that does not require any additional software to view. The Samples included are source files and a Visual Studio solution file that can be opened in Visual Studio if the VSeWSS 1.1 tools are installed.
VSeWSS 1.1 is listed as a related resource in the box to the right of this page. The VSeWSS 1.1 tool includes Visual Studio 2005 project templates for Web Parts, site definitions, and list definitions; and a stand-alone utility program, the SharePoint Solution Generator."
