An unhandled exception occurred in the user interface.Exception Information: OSearch (Administrator)

I came accross a very nasty error. I was configuring some client development machines for one of our customers. After installation i tried to start the Office SharePoint Server Search service and got the error: An unhandled exception occurred in the user interface.Exception Information: OSearch (Administrator) It seems that even if you not using a domain account, you still need to provide the machine name in front of the requested account. So for example: Administrator must be MACHINE001\Administrator...

    Windows 7, Release in 2009

A lot of news articles are appearing around some introduction of the new Windows 7. Windows 7 is gonna be the new version after Windows Vista. Some people already claimed that this version will be released soon and Microsoft does not have enough faith in their current Windows Vista. But the release of windows 7 will be in the second half of 2009. Strange enough the first half of 2009, support on Windows XP will be stopped. This could cause a large number of companies not having any support while...

Thanks to one of my collegaes Ruud, we have a solution for embedding presence information into SharePoint using a Content Editor Web Part. Bart Wessels mentioned a whitepaper which describes the interoperability between SAP NetWeaver Portal and MOSS 2007. It provides a complete overview over all relevant concepts, technical building blocks and integration scenarios known to date. For key scenarios also detailed How-To chapters can be found in the rear part of the paper. License Advisor for Volume Licensing

I get a lot of questions regarding licenses for WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007. Its not that hard. Software License for WSS 3.0 is free when you use Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and you will need a license per server for each MOSS 2007 server. Next to that you have to pay for each user which uniquely authenticate. And there is even the possibility to buy off licenses when you use MOSS for publishing sites (internet sites). At the Microsoft website there is a handy tool called License Advisor which can help...

Oktober 2008 i'm working for a new company called Sparked. The new world of work causes organizations to re-think about their ways of communication and interaction with their customers.

Increasing usage of web technology and the new generation workers brings changes into these organizations.

Sparked helps these organizations to accelerate adoption of this technology platform to effectively use it around content management, content exposure and collaboration.

April 2008 i have been to the first SharePoint Conference in Dubai. Dubai is an overwhelming town with a lot of passionate people. I had a great time. Thank you my friends!
